Seventeen members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia were arrested April 26 in Santander de Quilichao, Cauca department, while allegedly planning to steal a helicopter's cargo, W Radio reported.

Peace talks between the Colombian government and the National Liberation Army, or ELN, will begin in the second week of May, El Espectador reported April 22.

Police seized more than seven tons of marijuana and arrested three people in Cauca department March 26, El Espectador reported.

The National Liberation Army, a Colombian rebel group, released two kidnapped German citizens on March 8, the International Committee of the Red Cross said, CNN reported.

The No. 2 leader of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia has announced a temporary cease-fire that will begin Nov. 20 and end Jan. 20, 2013, El Espectador reported Nov. 19.

The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, known by its Spanish acronym, FARC, will not demobilize but will agree to surrender its weapons, senior FARC negotiators said Nov. 12, according to Colombia Reports, citing El Telegrafo newspaper.

Argentine authorities arrested Henry de Jesus Lopez Londono, the leader of Colombia's Los Urabenos cartel, at a restaurant south of Buenos Aires on Oct. 31, AFP reported.
