The French family kidnapped by Boko Haram in Cameroon in February has been released and is in the hands of Cameroonian officials, Cameroonian President Paul Biya said April 19, Al Jazeera reported.
A video surfaced March 18 showing a man who appeared to be a French hostage held by Islamic militants with six other family members kidnapped on Feb. 19 in northern Cameroon, AP reported.
French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius will visit Cameroon and Nigeria from March 15 to March 16, according to a French news release and the Africa Review.
Suspected Boko Haram militants on March 4 attacked a police station in Gwoza, northeast Nigeria, near the border with Cameroon, with gunfire and explosives, a police source said, AFP reported March 5.
Between five and seven French citizens have been kidnapped by armed men on motorcycles in northern Cameroon, near the Nigerian border, France 24 reported Feb. 19, citing Radio France International.
