Editor
STRATFOR, a private intelligence firm that analyzes and provides forecasts on geopolitical, economic and security issues worldwide, needs a full-time editor.
Applicants should have professional-level experience in journalism and a good grasp of geography, history and foreign affairs. Applicants should also be able to edit and write well under deadline pressure, be well-grounded in Web publishing, and be motivated team players. Familiarity with AP style a plus. Graphics Designer
STRATFOR, an online publisher of global news and intelligence, is looking for a Graphic Designer
Responsibilities: Work with analyst and marketing teams to produce high-quality maps, charts, graphics, interactive files and marketing materials.
- Strong understanding of marketing and branding for design and the ability to communicate with multiple parties in the creation of one cohesive message on deadline
- Ability to further execute that understanding to perfection in the design of media kits, brochures and other commercial campaigns
- Fluency in current graphic design practices and web production software, such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Flash
- Ability to create superior, original designs for the Web under extremely tight deadlines
- Understanding of and experience in branding, layout, color theory and typography in both print and digital media.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks of varying complexities while working under pressure
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Interest in geopolitics, intelligence, and counterterrorism
• Must have portfolio of work available online or in PDF format

Website Designer
STRATFOR, an online publisher of global news and intelligence, is looking for a Website Designer
Responsibilities:
Create design templates, including graphic design, site navigation, and layout of content for STRATFOR Web sites including a redesign of our website
- Experience with high-traffic, e-commerce sites that can cater to multiple site experiences for multiple customer levels
- Create visual concepts that are consistent with STRATFOR’s content and brand
- Coordinate with STRATFOR’s IT team on implementation of design elements
- Work with marketing team on creation of collateral online and print marketing materials
Requirements:
- Must have superior knowledge of current web-design trends and techniques
- Must have a focus on information design, working within grid systems, and strong typography skills
- Must have familiarity with Adobe CS4 programs
- Must have experience working on high-traffic sites and coordinating with IT departments
- Must be a flexible team player able to work in deadline-driven, fast-paced, news-oriented environment
- Must have portfolio of work available online or in PDF format

Internships
From their first day, STRATFOR interns enter into a substantive, intensive and fast-paced program. Not only do interns work directly with analysts to support the production of analyses published on our Web site, they also contribute to intelligence gathering efforts.
During our program, interns divide their time between two of our Areas of Responsibility. These AORs include Eurasia, East Asia, Latin America, Middle East/South Asia, Sub Saharan Africa, Military and Terrorism/Security. Interns also conduct general research for the company.
STRATFOR looks for applicants with diverse educational and professional experience. Successful interns must be proficient researchers and innovative thinkers. Foreign language proficiency is encouraged but not required.
Our internship program provides invaluable experience for applicants seeking careers in global affairs and/or intelligence analysis. In highly selective cases, interns have gained full-time employment with us following their internship.
Travel and cost-of-living stipends are available.
Application Process
Basic information:
STRATFOR’s Internship Program is offered in three semesters:
1. Spring – Jan. 10, 2010 - May 7, 2010 (application deadline Oct. 23, 2009)
2. Summer -- May 10, 2010 – Sept. 3, 2010 (application deadline March 12, 2010)
3. Fall -- Sept. 7, 2010 – Dec. 20, 2010 (application deadline July 9, 2010)
Please note that applications are handled on a first-come, first- serve basis.
We are no longer taking applications for the Fall internship. The application deadline for the Fall internship is August 1. All interns are expected to work in our Austin, Texas headquarters.

- A "statement of purpose" (1,000 words max) that outlines relevant career experience and career goals as they pertain to the STRATFOR internship. The statement of purpose should outline why the candidate is interested in working for STRATFOR, why the candidate would be a suitable intern and what experience in his or her educational/professional background makes the candidate a suitable fit for STRATFOR.

Applicants selected to continue to the second phase of the application process will be asked to write a brief (600 words) analysis. Interviews for the Spring semester (by phone or in person) will be conducted in October. Applicants will be notified about the status of their application by the end of November.
