Dr. George Friedman
George Friedman is the founder and chief executive officer of Stratfor, a company he began in 1996 that is now a leader in the field of private intelligence (www.stratfor.com). As one of the world’s leading authorities on intelligence, geopolitics, warfare and national security issues, he guides Stratfor’s strategic vision, helping to shape the firm’s long-range geopolitical forecasts as well as overseeing analysis and global intelligence operations.
Author of numerous articles on national security, warfare and intelligence, Dr. Friedman’s most recent book, America’s Secret War (Doubleday, 2004), was a Barron’s Best Book of 2004. It describes in detail America’s covert and overt efforts in the global war against terrorism. His previous books include The Frankfurt School, The Coming War with Japan, The Intelligence Edge, and The Future of War. His forthcoming book, The Next 100 Years: A Forecast for the 21st Century, is set for release in July 2008.
Dr. Friedman has appeared as a national security and intelligence expert on all major U.S. news networks and is a frequent guest on radio programs. A Barron’s cover article featured an interview with Dr. Friedman in October 2001. He also has been featured in Time magazine, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times Magazine and many other U.S. and international publications. Dr. Friedman is a frequent keynote speaker at events and conferences for private organizations and government agencies.
Dr. Friedman received his bachelor’s degree from the City College of the City University of New York and holds a Ph.D. in government from Cornell University. He is married, has four children and lives in Austin, Texas.
