At least seven people were killed and 22 injured in a bomb attack on a civilian passenger bus in southern Nepal on Jan. 18. The bus was traveling near the town of Pathlaiya in Bara district, about 93 miles from the capital, Kathmandu, when it was hit.
A group calling itself the Terai Army claimed responsibility for the attack. The spokesman for the Terai Army said his workers detonated a bomb to blow up the bus. Since this bombing actually inflicted a fair amount of damage, the bomb was likely some sort of improvised nitrate mixture such as potassium nitrate, sodium nitrate, urea nitrate or ammonium nitrate.
