Three nearly simultaneous bomb blasts occurred in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh state Nov. 23, killing at least 13 and injuring several others.
The bombs reportedly were strapped to bicycles and placed in tin sheds next to the lawyers’ chambers in the cities of Varanasi, Faizabad and Lucknow. Another bomb in Lucknow failed to explode. The low-intensity bombs, which appear to have been crudely made, are similar to bombs used in recent attacks in India, including the Oct. 11 attack against a Sufi shrine in Ajmer, Rajasthan; the May 11 attack in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh; and the Aug. 25 attack in Hyderabad.
