Egypt prevented large trucks from taking goods into the Sinai town of Rafah April 10 in an attempt to remove any economic incentive for Palestinians to breach the Egypt-Gaza border, Reuters reported, citing unnamed security sources.

Police reportedly turned back goods-laden large trucks at checkpoints on main roads leading to Rafah and the nearby town of El Arish, but smaller trucks and those not carrying loads were still being allowed through. According to the report, the focus was on vehicles carrying food products, fuel and motorcycles — items the Palestinians bought in large quantities during the last border breach in January.
