Mt. Nevado del Huila erupted in western Colombia on April 14, spewing hot ash across nearby villages and forcing the evacuation of 13,000 area residents over fears it could cause an avalanche on the snow-capped mountain. Barring a secondary eruption of unexpected magnitude, however, this event poses little economic threat to the country.
