Philippine police are saying that the likely cause of an Oct. 19 explosion at the Glorietta 2 shopping center in Makati City, in greater Manila, was a bomb, not a natural gas leak as earlier thought. The explosion, which occurred at about 1:40 p.m. local time and left a 26-foot-wide crater in the ground and a hole in the center’s second-floor ceiling, occurred near an entrance in an area consisting primarily of shops that sell children’s clothes and toys, according to reports.
