Argentine agriculture groups will meet Aug. 12 to decide whether to resume protests over food price caps imposed by the government, Argentine newspaper La Nacion reported. Having defeated the government on the issue of export taxes, the farmers are going after their next-biggest stumbling block. The possibility of renewed protests by the agricultural industry could pressure Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner’s government to make free-market changes, but those reforms would have significant political costs.
