Some 50 people were killed Dec 11 in the Algerian capital, Algiers, in two nearly simultaneous suicide bombings — one at the Constitutional Court and one near a police station and U.N. offices in a district housing the offices of Western companies. The bombs reportedly went off about 10 minutes apart.
