Natural Resources Business Development

This position offers an opportunity to work in a highly entrepreneurial environment at a fast-growing Austin-based firm. The position encompasses two primary business development roles: 

  • Operating in a sales role working within the Custom Intelligence Services division to generate leads and grow the annual, high-touch client base.
  • Operating in a strategic role working alongside senior management to identify and build new opportunities in our Global Advisory Services business.
The sales role will require the candidate to establish potential client lists, determine the best point of entry for contact and develop a relationship with potential clients that will lead to sales of custom intelligence services contracts. 
 
The strategic role includes growing and servicing the client base, sourcing and facilitating transactions between the firm’s Strategic Partners and targeted assets, and identifying unique global investment opportunities for our partners. This is a unique opportunity to gain direct experience in advising global transactions as well as strategic planning. 
 
Strong candidates must have at least 7 years of prior experience in industries including, but not limited to, investment banking, consulting, private equity or corporate development. Candidates should have proven track record in selling consulting services and developing partnerships, creative ability to construct and structure deals, outstanding interpersonal communication and persuasive presentation skills. Candidates also should have strong capabilities in Excel, financial modeling and PowerPoint.

Custom Intelligence Services (CIS)

Stratfor Custom Intelligence Services provides real-time intelligence and forecasting, as well as direct access to our analysts, through three primary deliverables: Executive Briefings, Custom Projects and Strategic Monitoring. 
 
Executive Briefings include comprehensive analysis delivered by Stratfor analysts focused on unique client issues specific to an intelligence topic or geographic region. Stratfor analysts are also available for additional follow-up counsel and Q&A. 
 
Custom Projects leverage Stratfor’s intelligence team and global network of contacts to offer advice that informs clients’ global business strategies and investments. Each project provides in-depth intelligence, analysis and forecasts tailored to client priorities and supports their ability operate effectively and grow their businesses in complex regions around the world. Deliverables can include Country Profiles, Forecasts, Business Risk and Security Assessments, Due Diligence investigations and White Papers. 
 
Strategic Monitoring includes real-time, proactive intelligence monitoring that aligns with client’s countries of operation and investment initiatives. In-depth monitoring can be customized for any number of countries or regions. Offerings include Monthly Forecasts, Daily Intelligence Alerts and direct access to Stratfor intelligence briefers.
 

Global Advisory Services

Global Advisory Services offers clients full access to Stratfor's global infrastructure of intelligence assets, government and partner relationships to identify and expand their global business opportunities. Partners receive a high-touch consulting service that provides ongoing deal sourcing, transaction assistance and oversight to guide strategic investment decisions, help mitigate risk and improve their ability to operate effectively in challenging environments. Based on core intelligence capabilities and influential relationships, Stratfor’s principal expertise lies in the Natural Resources, Financial Services and Security industries.

Analyst Development Program

The Analyst Development Program offers associates (ADPs) from around the globe an opportunity to learn from Stratfor's analysts and intelligence professionals. ADPs play a critical role in analyzing and interpreting world events as well as contributing to client and subscriber products. They also receive hands-on experience in intelligence collection and analysis and forecasting methods. The Analyst Development Program is the primary way candidates become employed as analysts -- many of our current employees got their starts as ADPs.

Applicants are drawn from a wide range of backgrounds and interests, including international relations, global trade, economics, technological innovation, engineering and science. We encourage applicants of diverse educational and professional backgrounds to apply.

The three-month Analyst Development Program is unpaid but stipends are provided. The recruits will be expected to come to Austin, Texas, for three months and work full time. Successful candidates will be, at a minimum, in their junior or senior year of university education. Please note that many participants are further into their professional careers.

Resumes and cover letters are due by May 13, 2013, for the Fall program. Please send a cover letter and résumé (CV) to applications@stratfor.com . Cover letters should be addressed to the ADP Selection Committee and should be no more than 500 words explaining why you want to work for Stratfor and what you specifically can contribute.

If selected for an interview, you will be contacted by May 17, 2013. Unfortunately, not every applicant will be contacted due to the large number of applications received.
